2010/2011 Admissions Procedures

STEP 1. Observation & Open House

Coastal Empire Montessori requests that prospective parents observe in the classrooms so that they may familiarize themselves with the school and its Montessori practices. Observations are held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:30 AM and we advise allotting 45 minutes to one hour to observe in two classrooms and meet with the Head of School. Please contact the school office at 912-238-1973 to schedule an appointment to observe.

New Parents should attend an Open House:

Monday 22nd February 4:30 PM ñ 7:00 PM

Wednesday 24th February 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM

STEP 2. 2010/11 Admissions Application

Applications for the 2010/11 school year will be accepted in the school office from February 1st through March 4th at 4:30 PM. If you wish to submit an application please;

o Complete the on line application

o Print out the completed application and return the printed copy to the school office at 301 Buckhalter Rd. Savannah GA 31405. (If you do not have access to a computer please contact the school office for an application and to schedule a time to enter the required information.)


STEP 3. Lottery Selection

The Lottery for the PK4 and Kindergarten programs will be held on Tuesday March 9th at 6.00 PM. All apllications for the Georgia PK4 Program and for the Kindergarten Charter Program received in the school office by 4.30 PM March 4th, will be placed in the appropriate Lottery.

STEP 4. Acceptance & Waiting List

Once the Lottery has been conducted students that have been selected will receive written notification. Families are then required to return the necessary acceptance form and return it to the school office by March 23rd 2010.

Applicants who were not selected in the Lottery will receive notification and may return the Waiting List Request Form prior to March 23rd 2010. You will be contacted should a slot become available in the appropriate age group.

STEP 5. 2010- 2011 Registration

All new students and returning students for 2010/11 admission must fill out the on line registration forms and submit a completed printed version and the required documentation to the school office by April 8th 2010.

STEP 6. Student Visits & Parent Education

During the months of April and May new students will meet with their assigned teacher. Parent Education Meetings will also be scheduled for new and returning families. You will be contacted with the dates and times of these meetings.
